The sp_configure setting xp_cmdshell must be enabled*.
PowerShell 2.0 or above; execution policy set to RemoteSigned.
The MinionMaintenance1.1 installer requires PowerShell version 3.0 or higher.
Recommendations on a work-around?

No workaround needed. It's no longer required that you run it from the console of the server so just run the install from your desktop or from another server with PS3.0 on it.

Trying to install MR on a SQL 2008 R2 box.
MR Quick Start has requirements as:
System requirements:
SQL Server 2005 or above.
